Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020) Front Assist Advice. I collected my new Octavia yesterday. It came with Front Assist and ACC. The ACC works great so the Radar system must be working well. The Front Assist is switched on with all options ticked on the menu system. I can't quite work out whether the Front Assist hardly does anything or it
3314 posts · Joined 2018. #6 · Aug 20, 2020. You need to have your WD setup adjusted properly to eliminate the front end lift, and potentially avoid using ACC when hooked up to the TT. Typically, you have the option of disabling these assist systems when offroading, etc. I'd check all your menus to see if you can disable them.
It will look out for you (65-75% of the time) for that one time your brain might not pick up so quickly some non progressive braking, especially if the initial braking was light. It is by no means full proof tho but is better than a smashed up front end I think. Together the two systems work well.
ACC recalibration West Sussex. On my T6 I am greeted with "Front Assist unavailable" daily since I got the van. OBDEleven shows ACC sensor misadjusted. I can clear / reset and ACC works as expected but the fault comes back. I note that the little radar box in the front bumper is loose / moves at the bottom, pretty certain
No disabling the Stop Start function (with obdeleven, VDXS etc) it doesn’t affect the front radar system. That still functions. I’ve had my stop start disabled for years and front radar functions as normal. P

Front assist. Using a radar in the front bumper, front assist initiates an audio/visual warning, using MaxiDOT, to warn about an impending collision. If the driver fails to respond, the system is designed to initiate braking to minimise any possible impact. From the Fabia Brochure.
ACC = adaptive (radar) cruise control, maintains constant distance for your speed from the car in front; DSG = direct shift gearbox, robot double-clutch gearbox. You definitely don't have one of these. Anyway, congrats on having front assist! As well as potentially saving you from a collision, it might reduce your insurance costs.
The whole ACC / Front assist isnt infallible as the motor cyclist in front of me the other day nearly testifed to. I had the cruise control set to 80 and the traffic had slowed to about 40 on the motorway. the ACC duly slowed down.
This always overloads the system and up comes an orange warning and it turns itself off. Restarting the engine at the end of the lane clears the problem. Turning round in long grass or manoeuvring near tall nettles often slams the brakes on so violently it's just like you have hit something. 1k. Location: Dorset.
